November 18, MINSK. The action "Sober driver" starts in the Minsk region on November 19. BelTA was informed about this by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.
"Alcohol is one of the most insidious enemies of a person. Under its influence, a person's actions become unpredictable, and sometimes dangerous. Intoxication makes people defenseless in the event of extraordinary situations. This is especially acute in traffic, regardless of who is in a state of intoxication- a driver or a pedestrian, a cyclist or a carter of horse-drawn transport, - the traffic police said. - Despite the measures taken to prevent and suppress the facts of driving by persons in a state of intoxication, the level of road accidents involving drunk drivers remains high. For 10 months, 46 accidents occurred on the roads of the Minsk region for this reason, in which 21 people died and 44 were injured of varying severity. In the course of traffic control, road guards detained 2,886 drivers who were driving while intoxicated."
From November 19 to 22, the State traffic inspectorate of the Minsk region is holding a preventive action "Sober driver". The main goal of the event is to prevent and suppress the facts of driving vehicles by drunk drivers as one of the main causes of road accidents with serious consequences. These days, the road patrol units will switch to an enhanced version of their service. Patrols of militia units are close to the places of ALCOHOL trade objects, entertainment establishments (cafes, discos, gas stations), especially in the evening and at night. Raid events will be held throughout the region, within which the physical condition of vehicle drivers will be monitored.
