Japanese Mazda entered into negotiations with a local partner to stop production in Russia. it is reported by Nikkei, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, the decision was made against the background of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, financial sanctions and problems with the supply of spare parts.

In Russia, Mazda's partner is the Sollers Auto group. Mazda Sollers is a joint venture between the two companies that opened a car manufacturing plant in Vladivostok in 2012. The ceremony was then attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mazda CEO Takashimi Yamanouchi.
The plant produced Mazda CX-9 SUVs, Mazda CX-5 crossovers and Mazda 6 sedans. In 2021, the company produced about 28,000 vehicles, Avtostat reported citing the company. This year, Mazda Sollers planned to increase production to 30,000 units.
