Last year, the number of burglaries in the Novosibirsk region decreased by 20% compared to 2020. At the same time, the number of investigated crimes increased by 7.6%. This was reported to RBC Novosibirsk in the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“Most often, jewelry, cash, fur coats, mobile phones, tablets and laptops become the subject of criminal encroachment,” the response says.
According to the agency, burglaries are caused by: low reliability of locks, lack of security systems and bars on the windows of the first floors. Attackers also take advantage of the victims' forgetfulness. Many residents leave houses or apartments located on the lower floors and do not close the vents and windows.
According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Novosibirsk Region, in 2021, 17,062 crimes against property were registered in the region. This is almost 10% below the 2020 level. The share of burglaries accounts for about 2% of the total number of such crimes.
