June 9, Brest. A drunk driver demolished a fence in Brest, Natalia Milyukova, official representative of the regional executive committee's Internal Affairs Directorate, told BelTA.

The accident happened on June 8 at about 19.40 at the intersection of Zhuravetskaya Street and Republic Avenue. When choosing the speed of movement, the 33-year-old driver of the Cadillac car did not take into account the condition of the roadway and the visibility of the road, the features of the vehicle and ran into the fence.

As a result of the accident, five spans of the fence were damaged, the car received mechanical damage. it was established that at the time of the accident the driver was in a state of intoxication (1.68 ppm of ALCOHOL). In addition, he did not have a driving license. Three administrative materials have been drawn up against a Brest resident. The car has been impounded.

The police remind: alcohol is the main enemy of road safety, the cause of injury and death. In the presence of absolute ethyl alcohol in the blood or exhaled air at a concentration of up to 0.8 ppm inclusive, the driver will face a fine of 100 base units and deprivation of rights for three years. Over 0.8 ppm - a fine of 200 basic units with deprivation of rights for five years.

For repeated driving while intoxicated within a year after an administrative penalty, criminal liability and special confiscation of the vehicle are provided.
