
April 27, MINSK . The Ministry of Labor and the FPB will monitor organizations with facts of injuries in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication , said Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection Igor Starovoitov.
"For the first time in several years, we have shown a tendency to increase the number of workers who were injured at work while intoxicated. The growth was 28%. If in 2021 there were 63 such workers, then in 2022 - 81. In addition, the number of deaths in in a state of alcoholic intoxication. In general, the number of deaths is 132 people in 2022, as in 2021. And in a state of alcoholic intoxication, the increase is from 15 people in 2021 to 22 people in 2022," said Igor Starovoitov.
According to him, special attention will be paid to this issue. “On March 29, together with the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, we held a seminar-meeting where we discussed issues of coordination of work, and as one of the tasks we set to strengthen work in this direction,” the deputy minister noted. “Now, by the way, we are working on additions to our agreement, which we signed a cooperation agreement with the federation on labor protection issues in 2019. We will jointly work on monitoring those organizations where the facts of injuries of workers while intoxicated last year occurred. Each of these organizations will be monitored by either state labor inspectors or technical inspectors labor unions.We will definitely visit these organizations, we will consider how their work is structured. We will put special emphasis, of course, on the organization of pre-shift medical examinations - examinations, on the observance of labor discipline. As practice shows, these two areas are key when it comes to injuries while intoxicated."
