Omicron and other non-dominant strains have replaced Delta in RUSSIA, accounting for 47% of detected cases, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said at a meeting of President Vladimir Putin with members of the government.
“Cases of the Omicron strain have been registered in 72 regions of the country, in the structure of detected cases, the outgoing Delta variant accounts for 47.9%, and Omicron and other non-dominant strains account for 52.1%,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
According to Golikova, in Russia over the past week, compared with the second week of the month, the rate of new detected cases increased by 102% and amounts to 231 per 100,000 population. The rate of hospitalizations over the same period increased by 9% and amounted to 39 people per 100,000 people. That is, on average, 17% of newly ill patients were hospitalized.
Since the “omicron” is gradually spreading throughout the country, and the “delta” is still circulating, a different picture of the development of the pandemic is emerging in the regions, the Deputy Prime Minister noted. According to her, according to the results of the third week of the year in 35 regions, the level of hospitalization was higher than the national average. The highest rates of hospitalizations are in Tuva (more than 60% of all cases), North Ossetia (more than 50%), Kursk, Penza regions and Mari El (more than 40%).
The Kremlin announced the lack of discussion of the introduction of the lockdown because of the “omicron” Politics
