The Philippines will step up anti-coronavirus measures nationwide and in certain regions after local transmission of the delta strain of coronavirus (Indian strain) was detected in the country. Among other things, the authorities are closing entry from certain countries and tightening enforcement of entry requirements.
Thus, the Philippines is restricting communication with Malaysia and Thailand, according to the state agency Philippine News Agency, citing presidential spokesman Rodrigo Duterte. The measure will be in effect from 25 to 31 July. Restrictions will also apply to those who enter from other countries, but have visited one or two of these states in the last two weeks.
Now entry to the Philippines is prohibited from seven countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, and India.

The authorities will also increase control over whether foreigners entering the country comply with established requirements, including mandatory quarantine and testing.
