Ministry of Internal Affairs: 9 cases of careless handling of pyrotechnics were recorded on New Year's Eve

January 3, MINSK. On New Year's Eve, 9 cases of careless handling of pyrotechnic products were recorded, Alexander Kupchenya, HEAD of the main department for law enforcement and prevention of the MOB of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, told reporters today, BelTA has learned.

“All of them happened outside the venues of mass events. Most of them took place at the place of residence in courtyards. Citizens received minor injuries as a result of careless handling of pyrotechnics. After providing medical assistance, people were released,” said Alexander Kupchenya. Among the victims there are minors, as well as citizens who were in a state of alcoholic intoxication .

According to the chief, no emergencies, crimes, or administrative offenses were recorded in the places where the festivities were held.

"During the New Year holidays, the personnel served in an enhanced regime. We ensured the protection of public order in more than 1.5 thousand places organized for citizens. More than 100 thousand people attended the events. The largest number of participants was noted at the sites of Minsk and regional centers. In general, New Year's Eve passed in a calm atmosphere, the internal affairs bodies completed the tasks of protecting law and order," he concluded.
