“They are not enough”: governor’s adviser on covid measures in the Kama region

A month ago, the operational headquarters for the fight against Coronavirus introduced a number of restrictions. The measures were stepped up two weeks ago. However, the incidence of infection is not decreasing, but continues to grow. Dmitry Zhebelev, a freelance adviser to the governor on social issues, told RBC Perm that this does not mean that the measures are not working. If they had not been introduced, then there could have been even more cases.

“The only thing we can say now is that they are not enough. In general, IT was predictable, if you look at the experience of other countries that faced such a threat in the spring,” Dmitry Zhebelev believes.

Dmitry Zhebelev has been sticking to his position since the beginning of June. Back then, he said that now the most important thing is a stricter restriction of mass events. It is also necessary to limit the stay of people in enclosed spaces. In this case, you can not close everything in a row.

“If we close something, then we must provide support to those people who will suffer. It is not a fact that this will be possible only at the expense of regional resources. Much depends on the federal authorities,” Zhebelev said.

The adviser to the governor noted that there are two ways to solve the problem with the incidence. The first is to increase the number of beds and drugs indefinitely until resources run out. The second is to limit the number of social contacts and increase their safety in order to reduce the number of people infected and requiring hospitalization.
