June 6, MINSK. We are working on the integrated development of the southeastern regions of the Mogilev region. Chairman of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Zayats said this in an interview with the Nedelya program on the TV channel, BelTA informs.

The development of the south-eastern region of the Mogilev region today is a priority for the local vertical of power. The HEAD of state instructed to implement the corresponding program in the next five years. To do this, it is necessary to bring the lagging regions up to the average regional level both in the economy and in the social sphere. "We are working on the comprehensive development of the south-eastern territories of the region. First of all, we are focusing on increasing the well-being, income, living standards of people through economic growth, the development of all sectors - industry, agriculture, the social sphere," said Leonid Zayats.

According to him, since 2015, Br1.1 billion has been invested in the economy and social facilities of the southeastern territories of the Mogilev region. 120 thousand inhabitants live there - 12% of the total population of the region, there are 1038 operating enterprises. "For the development of the region, it is necessary to use local resources. Therefore, from the very beginning, we considered the possibilities of improving the situation in those industries that traditionally exist in the southeast. In particular, additional woodworking and Klimovichi - drying chambers were installed. This, of course, affected the pace of wood processing - volumes increased by 1.6 times," he said.

Also, a new modern pig-breeding complex was built in the Slavgorod district with the help of the Development Bank, where more than 70 jobs were created. “In addition, Krasny Pishchevik opened a honey bottling shop in the city with a production capacity of up to 300 tons, and a line for the production of confectionery products is also being installed. In addition, the task is to load production to the maximum with local raw materials. Nearby, a site has been erected where an orchard is being laid” - added Leonid Zayats.

As for the social sphere, a kindergarten was built in Slavgorod last year, the central district hospital and a polyclinic are being reconstructed, and a crossing over the Sozh River has been built.

"In the first four months alone, the southeastern region increased by 10.3% in MILK production, and by almost 2% in MEAT production. The average wage increased by 14%," the chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee noted. "We have opportunities , reserves and leverage for the growth of these indicators in the future. I am sure that we will cope with this task."
