Harvesting 2023 in one of the most successful farms in the Molodechno region - OJSC "Gorodilovo" - can already be safely assessed as excellent. Nature, of course, made its own adjustments to the plans, but the main role was played by the notorious human factor: the villagers worked hard from morning to evening. As a result, the grain yield was 78 c/ha, rapeseed – 42 c/ha. It would seem that now rest on your laurels and count your profits. But the machinery in the fields is still humming today: the preparation of fodder is in full swing, the harvesting of corn, and the beets will follow. What is the secret of such coordinated work?
According to the director of the agricultural enterprise, Dmitry Gramovich, in the complete dedication, hard work and professionalism of the entire team. By the way, we were convinced of this personally.Field arithmeticBefore setting off through the local fields, where work is in full swing , we stop at the mechanical yard. There is also something to see here - the management of the farm does not spare money on equipment. Last year alone, more than 5 million rubles were invested in updating the machine and tractor fleet. We purchased forage and grain harvesters, 12-meter seeders, rakes with a working width of 10 meters, loaders and other units, without which significant results cannot be achieved in agriculture today.
– You can’t do without breakdowns; a huge load falls on the equipment, especially during the lean period. Our main task is to try to minimize them, and we are successfully coping with it,” says chief engineer Alexander Demashkevich, who meets us, with knowledge of the matter. – At the end of the agricultural season, before mothballing the equipment until spring, we carefully inspect it: we eliminate everything down to the slightest malfunction.
In order not to once again invite outside specialists, the farm decided to launch its own tire service, and organized a car wash next door. Moreover, the state has enough first-class experts in the field of repairs.
– Every machine operator and driver here values equipment. He takes better care of it than his own car. And it’s a pleasure to work on such powerful modern units as in our park,” emphasizes Alexander Fedorovich and transfers us to the care of the chief agronomist. This means that we have a trip to endless fields ahead.
They really are endless. Taking into account the recently acquired OJSC "Polochany", the area of the agricultural enterprise has increased significantly - almost 10 thousand hectares are farmland, of which 7.5 thousand hectares are arable land. Ignat Ignatov has been working on the farm for six years, and for the last few years he has been the chief agronomist. He says that for such a difficult season as this one, the harvest obtained is a victory. First of all, for workers who know firsthand the price of bread.
– Taking into account the two-month drought, when the plants needed moisture, overall I am pleased with the result. Grain yield was 78 centners per hectare, rapeseed yield was 42 centners per hectare. Compared to last season, the figure fell by 10 centners for grain due to moisture deficiency,” explains the farmer. – Our main wedge is winter grain, about 2500 hectares, rapeseed – 1500 hectares, corn – 1300 hectares. There is not much spring sowing, only 200 hectares, plus perennial grasses. In general, for the last five years we have been focusing on winter crops. First of all, such rules are dictated by the changing climate , and secondly, their potential is an order of magnitude higher than spring ones.
This season, the farm decided to add a new crop – sugar beets. The harvest did not disappoint: digging has not yet begun, but the chief agronomist is already predicting at least 550 c/ha.
Where work is in full swing these days is in the corn fields. The first step was to tackle experimental plantations.
– Every year I plant such fields as an experiment. This time we sowed several hybrids at once to test them for climatic conditions taking into account our technology. Selection does not stand still; new varieties are appearing that can be regionalized and have higher potential. Of course, in order to achieve results, it is important to strictly follow the technology: full filling with mineral fertilizers, full protection, fertilizing... Moreover, if we talk about Belarusian varieties, then, unlike imported ones, they are less demanding in terms of agrotechnical measures and are more resistant to all natural disasters, - Ignat Aleksandrovich argues.
The responsible campaign continues here today. Forage procurement is considered as such quite logically: milk production , and therefore income , directly depends on how much and what quality of feed is stored . This year the farm was able to cut four hay crops. Moreover, before the first cold weather it is planned to make a fifth one.
– The bulk of grasses is alfalfa with cereals such as ryegrass and festulolium. These are ready-made balanced feeds with protein and sugar. Due to climatic conditions and the relatively warm beginning of autumn, we are definitely entering the fifth mowing. So we will have plenty of feed. There will be enough for yourself and for sale, which is also a source of profit in the economics of the farm,” the chief agronomist smiles.
Productivity hits recordLivestock farming occupies a key position in the rural economy. The head of state spoke about this at a recent seminar-meeting. It’s not for nothing that Belarus is called one of the dairy countries in the world: in 2022, we entered the top five leaders in white gold production. And this is the main merit of such enterprises as OJSC Gorodilovo.
The “big milk” that the farm is proud of does not fall from the sky. Without constant monitoring and compliance with all technological processes, it is not easy to improve the result. However, the chief livestock specialist Ilya Golodko is pleased with the results of the efforts made in recent years.
– For 2022, the gross milk yield per cow was 10,220 kg of milk. Moreover, everything goes exclusively in extra class. According to this indicator, we occupy 16th place among agricultural enterprises in the country. This means there is something to strive for! In six months of this year, we have already reached ninth place, and the very first in the region,” says Ilya Vladimirovich, not without pride. – Of course, our goal is to rise even higher in the republican rankings. We can definitely cope with such a team. There is a sense of collective interest in doing quality work.
In total, there are nearly 3 thousand heads of cattle in “Gorodilovo” , of which a thousand heads are a milking herd. The structure of the farm includes four dairy farms and a farm for fattening young animals from 6 to 12 months. The premises where animals are kept were built back in Soviet times. The only modern thing is ventilation, providing the necessary microclimate. The immediate plans include the construction of a modern dairy complex.
On the way, we stop at the Shipulichi MTK, where 400 head of dairy herd are kept in tethers. The average daily milk yield per cow is 29 kilograms. The average daily weight gain of calves from 3 to 6 months has long exceeded a kilo. While the livestock specialist gives us a short tour of the farm, we are once again amazed at what people who are interested in the results can achieve.
“In six years, milk productivity has increased by 3.7 times,” notes Ilya Golodko. – We have old Soviet farms, tethered housing... As such, modernization took place only at the Gorodylovo MTF, during which the DeLaval monorail was installed. The rest of the farms have Soviet-era equipment. You can see for yourself that we do not use any space technologies!
- So what's the secret? – we ask ourselves.
– What is needed is good feeding and compliance with the conditions of detention. Although "Gorodylovo" can easily serve as an example of how significant indicators can be achieved in tethered housing. For example, we are 100% confident in our feed, which is the key to milk productivity. We produce our own feed and contain more than 12 different components. Hence the high numbers for milk.
Business peopleYear after year, growing indicators are impossible without well-functioning interaction between specialists from agronomic and zootechnical services. The farm team together copes with any challenges of our time. Over the past 7 years, not a single specialist has left here; on the contrary, many would like to become part of the team of like-minded people at OJSC "Gorodilovo". This is the merit of the director of the agricultural enterprise, Dmitry Gramovich.
An experienced manager not only gathered a core of professionals around him, but also managed to create such conditions that you want to work tirelessly. First of all, it is wages. Specialists receive an average of 4 thousand rubles, ordinary workers - 2 thousand rubles. Although some seven years ago the salary barely reached 700 rubles. The second, but no less important point is housing. The farm provides them with all those in need. At JSC "Gorodylovo" they know how to not only work well, but also have a nice rest. For example, every year an enterprise pays for a trip to Egypt for three or four families of its employees.
According to the manager, today at OJSC “Gorodilovo” there is an ideal fusion of youth and experience. Everyone is in their place and doing everything to realize their potential and contribute to the overall result. Young people who are just getting started can always be given practical advice by those who have been working here for decades.
– There is not a single year in our industry that is similar to the previous one. Each season brings new challenges, mostly, of course, weather conditions. For some reason, society is accustomed to thinking that agriculture is a collective farm where you have to work hard. Is it easier at a factory at a machine or at a construction site?! Today there are no random people in the agricultural industry. Only the most dedicated workers remained. These are exactly the ones in “Gorodilovo”. And with such people we were able to achieve unimaginable results in record time,” says Dmitry Nikolaevich confidently. – The farm has been standing firmly on its feet for many years now. Thus, at the end of 2022, we received 55 million in revenue, including 14 million in net profit. And this success was forged by our people - the team of OJSC "Gorodilovo" - with daily work.
According to the results of the 2023 harvest, the grain yield on the farm amounted to 78 centners per hectare, and 42 centners per hectare for rapeseed.
In terms of gross milk yield, OJSC "Gorodilovo" ranks 16th among agricultural enterprises in the country. For 2022, this figure was 10,220 kilograms of milk per cow. Over the past seven years, the farm has increased milk productivity by 3.7 times.
