The UK is tightening restrictions on the import of
MEAT and dairy products from
the EU due to foot-and-mouth disease. This was reported by Kazinform.
Since April 12, the British
government has expanded
the ban on the import of meat and dairy products for personal use, extending
it to all countries of the European Union. This decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening epidemiological situation associated with foot-and-mouth disease.
The restrictions apply to
meat from cattle , sheep, goats and pigs, as well as products such as sandwiches, cheese,
sausages and
MILK - regardless of packaging, manufacturer and even if they were purchased in a duty free zone.
Previously, the restrictions applied only to certain EU countries - Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Austria, where outbreaks of the disease were recorded. Now the ban applies to the entire EU.
Prohibited products will be confiscated and destroyed at the border. In some cases, violators may face a fine of up to 5 thousand euros ($6,540). The new rules do not apply to Northern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
