June 15, Mogilev. In the Mogilev region, the grasses of the first cut were mowed over an area of almost 75%. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by the head of the crop production department of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Lilia Gulinskaya.

“This year, we started harvesting grasses a little earlier, we picked up a good pace. To date, 74% of the grasses of the first cut have already been mowed. More than 110 thousand hectares have been harvested - 77% of the mowed. This is twice as high as compared to the previous level of the year," said Lilia Gulinskaya.

Now 194.6 thousand tons of feed units have been harvested in the region - this is 14% of the task. "Compared to the level of last year, this figure was 117%. 5 centners of feed units were harvested per conditional head of livestock, which is 2.2 centners more than in 2020," the head of the crop production department emphasized.

According to Lilia Gulinskaya, the grasses have grown well this year, and now the main task is to clean up in a quality and timely manner. "The quality of forage grasses is monitored by the veterinary service, they take samples and check them. They monitor the quality of clotting, the introduction of preservatives - they completely monitor the technology. The quality and quantity of milk directly depends on the quality of grassy forages," summed up Lilia Gulinskaya.

The grasses of the first cut in the Mogilev region must be removed before June 20. Works on harvesting grass fodder in the region will continue until October.
