November 30, MINSK. Belarus sells mainly dry dairy products to CHINA , but since last year China has shown an increase in the consumption of butter, ice cream and cheese. This was announced by the Deputy HEAD of the Main Department of the Processing Industry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Maria Klimova in the project "In Fact: Decisions of the First" on the BelTA YouTube channel.
The specialist emphasized that Belarus is steadily increasing both the production of dairy products and its EXPORT potential. Geography of deliveries - 50 countries. Almost 88% - CIS countries and neighboring countries. "In nine months, we have increased the export of dairy products by almost 30%. This is no less than $570 million," she said. Given the level of development of the domestic dairy industry and large volumes of production, Belarus is interested in increasing exports not only to the CIS countries, but also to far abroad countries, especially to the markets of Asia and China .
Dry dairy products are traditionally in demand in China. At one time, Belarus successfully implemented a program for the processing of whey and the production of dry dairy products. Initially, there were doubts whether it was necessary to build a whey drying plant in each region or whether one for the whole country would be enough. As a result, a correct, well-considered decision was made to organize such production in each region. "Today we see that our drying capacities and production facilities are in demand in every region, because MILK powderis in high demand, it has high profitability in the world markets of far abroad - India, Venezuela, Pakistan, China in the first place. Therefore, we will continue to develop in this direction, - Maria Klimova drew attention. - Today we already process 98.6% whey. In EU countries - 80-85%, in Ukraine - 30%, RUSSIA - up to 50%. Almost all of our whey is processed into whey powder."
"For nine months, the growth rate of supplies of skimmed milk powder to China amounted to 153%. This indicates that our products are in high demand not only in neighboring countries, but also in Asian countries. Taking into account the fact that China is 1.4 billion of the population, or almost 18% of the world's population, and their milk consumption is growing, then this is a huge potential for the further development of our exports," Maria Klimova emphasized. "The demand is now more than ever. Our enterprises use this. They are expanding the range."
For example, this year and last year, China has shown a significant increase in the consumption of butter, ice cream and cheese. As the specialist of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food explained, these products are mainly sold in the central part of the country, in Shanghai, which is considered more Europeanized. "There is a shift in the culture of food consumption towards the European side. Given urbanization and rising incomes, we have plans to supply not only milk powder and whey powder, but also high value-added products: cheeses, butter and ice cream in the future," she said. she.
