Belarus to Build 60 Dairy Complexes with State Support in 2025-2026

4 March, Minsk . This year and next, it is planned to finance the construction of 60 dairy complexes in different regions of the country with state support provided to agricultural producers. This information was announced at a board meeting by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun, BELTA reports.It was emphasized that the results in dairy farming are directly related to the improvement of milk production technology through the modernization, reconstruction and construction of dairy farms and complexes. Thus, in pursuance of the instructions of the head of state, large-scale work was launched in the republic in 2023 to transfer the dairy herd to modern conditions of keeping.
 
According to the data provided, last year, out of 101 construction or reconstruction projects, 64 were new construction projects of modern dairy complexes. The largest number of them are located in the Brest, Grodno and Minsk regions. In the same regions, related infrastructure facilities for keeping young cattle and storing feed are being built and modernized more intensively.
 
"It is at such dairy farms that the best indicators in the industry are achieved, which is confirmed by the results of the leaders in dairy cattle breeding," Vladimir Grakun emphasized. "As of January 1, 2025, there are almost 3 thousand dairy farms in the republic, of which 1,683 are modern high-tech complexes, that is, 56% of the total number of MTFs. The share of such complexes in the total number of farms in the Brest region is 80%, Mogilev - 70%, Grodno - 67%, Gomel - 55%, Minsk - 53%. "
 
In general, throughout the country, the share of milk production at dairy farms amounted to 77% of the total production volume, and the productivity of the dairy herd was formed at the level of 6,739 kg, which is 541 kg higher than the national average. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food also considers it logical that in the Brest region, which traditionally demonstrates some of the best milk yields, 89% of cows are kept in dairy farms with milking parlors and robots.
 
"This year, we will continue work on modernizing the dairy industry and transferring the dairy herd to modern conditions of keeping," concluded the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food. "In 2025-2026, it is planned to finance the construction of 60 dairy farms with state support provided to agricultural producers. Construction work has already begun on more than 40 sites."
