Trade turnover of agricultural products between Belarus and Uzbekistan has increased by more than 7 times over 5 years

July 22, MINSK. The trade turnover of agricultural products between Belarus and Uzbekistan has grown more than 7 times over 5 years. This was discussed during a working meeting between Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Krupko and Ambassador of Belarus to Uzbekistan Leonid Marinich, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The meeting discussed issues of further cooperation and development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. "Uzbekistan for Belarus is a promising trade and economic partner in the Central Asian region. Over the past 5 years, mutual trade in agricultural products has increased by more than 7 times," the press service noted.

In 2020, agricultural products and food products worth $87.3 million were delivered from Belarus to Uzbekistan. In just 5 months of 2021, Belarusian food products and agricultural raw materials worth more than $35.5 million were exported to Uzbekistan. The main EXPORT positions to the Uzbek market are these are beef, cheeses, MILK powder , baby food, chocolate.

Cooperation in the field of agricultural education is also actively conducted, joint faculties have been created. Cooperation has been established between scientific and practical centers in the field of variety testing. A joint breeding and genetic center has started its work in Uzbekistan, which, among other things, provides for the sale of Belarusian breeding products. OJSC "BelVitunifarm" together with the Samarkand Institute of Veterinary Medicine is working on the creation of a joint venture for the production of veterinary drugs in the Tashkent region.
