The value of transactions by Russian companies on the BUCE increased fourfold from January to April 2024.

May 6, Minsk . In January-April 2024 , the value of transactions by residents of the Russian Federation on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) reached $259.4 million, which is four times more than in the same period last year. The key driver of growth was active sales of Belarusian agricultural products to the Russian market, the exchange's press service told a BELTA correspondent.

According to the BUCE press service, compared to January-April 2023, agricultural exports to Russia increased 59-fold in value terms. Domestic dairy products, primarily butter , milk powder , cheeses , andCottage cheese , as well as feed additives produced by the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation. Regarding imports, grain crops, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, metal products, coal, and coke have traditionally been supplied to Belarus

through the exchange. "This year, companies from the Moscow, Leningrad, Smolensk, Yaroslavl, and Kaliningrad regions have been particularly active in using the exchange platform, and this is directly reflected in the dynamics of transaction volumes. For example, in Moscow and the Moscow region, the trade turnover indicator for the first four months of the year increased more than 10-fold, in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region - 3.5-fold, and in the Smolensk region - 2.4-fold. Moreover, the commodity structure of transactions varies depending on the region. In particular, agricultural products and construction materials predominate in trade with the Moscow region. The share of these product categories in the total transaction value is 88%. By comparison, in trade with the Kaliningrad region, the lion's share of transactions is accounted for by metallurgy and woodworking products. There are also regional characteristics in the "export-import" criterion. For example, the Lipetsk region is currently a net exporter. In 2024, this The region only sells grain to the Belarusian market, without purchasing any Belarusian goods through the exchange. Stavropol Krai , on the other hand, only imports Belarusian lumber. Therefore, efforts are constantly underway to attract new sellers and buyers from Russia to the auctions to ensure a more balanced structure of mutual trade," the Belarusian exchange's press service commented.

According to BUCE, in 2024, companies from 43 Russian regions concluded transactions on the exchange trading platform, and the number of accredited Russian residents has increased by 6% since the beginning of the year and currently stands at 3,823.
