Snopkov: food security in Belarus is at a high level, we fully provide ourselves with meat and milk

May 25, Minsk. Food security in Belarus is at a high level, the country is fully self-sufficient in meat and milk. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic, BelTA has learned.

"Food security in the country is maintained at a high level. Every five years we implement state programs for the development of the agro-industrial complex, which ensures its sustainable growth. Our country is fully self-sufficient (more than 100%) in meat, milk, vegetable oil, sugar. A fairly high level - over 90% - provision for potatoes, vegetables and gourds. And often these are the products of farms and subsidiary farms," ​​Nikolai Snopkov said.

The state continues to support the purchase of agricultural machinery of domestic production. This allowed farmers to receive more than 1,700 pieces of machinery and equipment in 2021.

In total, Br1.2 billion was allocated to subsidize the agro-industrial complex in 2021. "Systemic support for food production is paying off and allowed our country to increase food exports to $6.7 billion last year," the First Deputy Prime Minister concluded.
