
November 22, Grodno. More than 53 tons of food was delivered to refugees at the border in two weeks. This was announced today to journalists by the Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross Dmitry Shevtsov, BelTA has learned.
Now there are about 2 thousand people in the temporary accommodation center for refugees in the transport and logistics center. They are provided with everything necessary, including food. Products are delivered daily.
"As of this morning, about 53.6 tons of food and food packages have been distributed, including bread, canned MEAT and fish, confectionery. About 15 tons of MILK have been distributed. There is a large amount of water, but now it is less in demand, since drinking water," said Dmitry Shevtsov. At least 3.5 tons of products are distributed daily. Today, in particular, it is planned to distribute about 5 tons.
There is a necessary stock of products in warehouses. New batches arrive daily. Partners from all over the country, enterprises, organizations ready to provide assistance and deliver products are constantly in touch with Red Cross volunteers.
"In the mornings, women can also get diapers and hygiene items in the tents where food for children is given," Dmitry Shevtsov said. He stressed that the distribution of toys, coloring books, felt-tip pens and pencils to children was organized so that the kids could have fun.
