Igor Sergeenko. January 11, Minsk . Belarus has not only preserved its potential over the past 30 years, but also strengthened it. This was stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeenko at an information meeting with the population in Postavy, a BELTA correspondent reports.

The meeting discussed the socio-economic achievements of sovereign Belarus over the past 30 years, the current socio-political situation, and the activities of the Belarusian parliament.

"During the years of the presidential republic, we have not only preserved our potential, but also modernized enterprises - industrial and agricultural. If we talk about industry, I will give just a few figures. About 80% of tractors produced in the CIS come from Belarus, 50% of chemical fibers, a fifth of refrigerators and freezers. The country occupies one of the leading places in the world in the production of heavy-duty vehicles. The industrial complex as a whole forms 80% of our country's exports, - said Igor Sergeenko. - Could we have imagined 10-20 years ago that Belarus would begin to occupy a leading position in the field of agricultural production? In fact, today we are among the top five countries - exporters of dairy products and the top 15 leading exporters of meat products. Self-sufficiency of Belarus in many types of agricultural products exceeds 100%, and in milk - almost 270%. Domestic products are supplied to more than 100 countries."

The development of the economy allows us to support the social sphere, direct significant funds to health care, education, support for pensioners, and the development of culture, the speaker emphasized. "We have a socially oriented state, which assumes care for a specific person. And the state has taken specific measures. Today, in terms of education indicators, we are among the thirty leading countries in the world. Free education is the order of the day. We have guaranteed free medical care. Belarus is among the twenty countries in the world in terms of transplantation volume. Over the 30 years of the presidential republic, hundreds of various types of healthcare facilities have been built: Republican Scientific and Practical Centers, district and regional hospital buildings, feldsher-midwife stations. Housing issues are being resolved," he added.

"This year has been declared the Year of Improvement. The President has signed a corresponding decree. Large-scale work awaits us . And these are not only the measures that will be taken by the state to allocate funds to restore order, improve roads and territories. We have a lot of work to do, including with the participation of residents, so that our life becomes more interesting and fulfilling. Moreover, there are plenty of examples of improved settlements, including through the implementation of civil initiatives," Igor Sergeenko summed up.
