Agriculture in the Grodno region grew by 14% over the five-year period

May 4, Grodno. Agriculture in the Grodno region has grown by 14% over the past five years. It is important to maintain growth rates and continue the development of the industry, Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Krupko stressed today during the introduction of the first deputy chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, BelTA has learned.

In his new position, Yuri Valevaty will oversee the agro-industrial complex of the region. The work area is complex and responsible.

"The Grodno region is one of the leaders in the country. Over the past five years, the region added 14% in agriculture, in 2020 the growth was over 7%. With this high base in the first quarter, the growth rate was 102%. The region is the flagship in crop production, according to productivity of cereals, sugar beets, fodder harvesting," Ivan Krupko said. He also emphasized the high results in the production of meat and milk. It is important, according to him, to continue the progressive development of the industry, increasing efficiency.

"The basis is working with people, strengthening human resources. It is necessary to preserve the foundation that was created by previous generations. Looking back at the good traditions of our region, it is necessary to introduce innovations dictated by the time - modernization, diversification, changing the structure of sown areas. A huge layer work in this regard with farms," ​​Yury Valevaty shared his plans.
