June 20, Shklovsky district. President of Belarus ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO sets the task of achieving in Belarus a gross grain harvest of 9-10 million tons in the near future. He stated this during a working trip to the Mogilev region, BelTA has learned.
Upon arrival at the field, where various varieties of winter barley were sown as an experiment, the HEAD of state stressed that today is a historic and turning point in agriculture.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that Belarus is in the zone of risky farming. One of the problems of agriculture is the short vegetation period of plants. From sowing to harvesting takes a short period of time. And it is necessary to cultivate those crops that are suitable for these conditions.
"It is necessary to reach 9-10 million tons of grain crops without rapeseed," he set the task.
Especially this topic - obtaining a sufficient amount of high-quality grain - is relevant for the Vitebsk region and some other regions of the country. "We need cereals. What to cultivate?" - the Belarusian leader pointed out the question.
The President recalled that in this regard, the issue of cultivating winter barley should be raised very strictly. It is harvested before other grain crops. This allows you to quickly get feed for livestock, more evenly use and run equipment before mass harvesting.
"In order for us not to worry about grain crops, I think that we need to return to a more serious cultivation of winter barley. I am unequivocally convinced that there will be winter barley. We need high-quality, good grain. This year has shown that winter barley is miracle. I have never seen such fields," the Belarusian leader stressed.Alexander Lukashenko, on an experimental field in his small homeland, got acquainted with the crops of modern varieties and immediately responded to possible reproaches that everything here was done according to technology and at the highest level. This is the essence, he drew attention - strict adherence to technology gives a high result. And this is an example that should be followed elsewhere.
“In no case should we slide down to the cultivation of barley without technology! You don’t need to do this without technology. For the Vitebsk region, this is a way out. This is really a turning point in agriculture,” the President said, addressing the governors and scientists.
Another topic of the working trip is the cultivation of rapeseed. Alexander Lukashenko also stressed the great importance of this crop for agriculture, and this is money for the villagers.
“Rapeseed is money for peasants. It is necessary to reach a million (tons of harvest. - Approx. BelTA). This should change agriculture.
"We need to give impetus to this great cause. Believe me, this will be a revolution in the countryside. If in this famine (and there will be famine in the world, even I already believe in it, despite the chatter of politicians) ... If we ensure food security ... We will already provided," the head of state said.
He stressed that the topic under discussion is extremely important for providing feed for the livestock industry. “If we can feed the cattle, we will always have MILK and MEAT. And I will also ask them (responsible for the agricultural sector. - Approx. BelTA),” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
He concluded that if all this is implemented, then "we will never have problems with money."
After barley, the head of state also visited a rapeseed field. “We have a good harvest here and there. So, we know how to cultivate, we know how to grow. We just need to do everything technologically correctly,” he said.
"What prevents you from having such rapeseed everywhere?" - Alyaksandr Lukashenka outlined the question.
We also talked about providing modern technology. It has become more expensive and complex. Therefore, it is important that specialists take care of it and properly exploit it.
