May 9 , MINSK . Industrial and agricultural sectors were restored to pre-war levels 5-15 years after the end of the Great Patriotic War, according to Belstat, according to BELTA.
During the war, over 10,000 industrial enterprises were destroyed, and over 90% of machine tools and technological equipment were either destroyed or removed. Pre-war levels were restored in 1950. Today, over 16,000 industrial enterprises operate successfully in Belarus. More than half of the industrial output is exported
. Agricultural output in 1945 had fallen by half compared to pre-war levels. However, it was possible to exceed the pre-war level by a quarter by 1960.
Today, Belarus is fully self-sufficient in agricultural products. Self-sufficiency in MILK is 283%, MEAT - 135%, eggs - 123%, potatoes - 111%, and vegetables and melons - 103%. Agricultural products and food products account for one-fifth of total exports.
