April 6, Kobrin. Milk production in Belarus is planned to increase by almost 2 million tons over the five-year period - almost a quarter of the current volume, Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo told reporters in Kobrin today, BelTA has learned.
“The task is to increase milk production by almost 2 million tons over the five-year period and export it. We work every day to increase the export component, diversify markets, this is the Klondike, the foreign exchange earnings that should come to the country from the agro-industrial complex. Of course, we will not export to the detriment of the domestic market, first of all - the provision of food for our population," the minister said.It is supposed to achieve this goal primarily through the modernization of the livestock sector - the construction and reconstruction of dairy complexes and complexes with the maintenance of cattle, poultry farms, the introduction of modern technologies there. This year, it is planned to build up to 50 new MTFs throughout the country. "We are slowly closing old farms, increasing milk production at new complexes. And this is our strategy - through new, modernized production facilities, to increase the output of agricultural products that are in demand in the world," said Igor Brylo.
Today in Kobrin, the winners of the annual regional competition for achieving high performance in livestock production in 2021 are honored. The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food warmly thanked the rural workers for their selfless work and devotion to their chosen profession, for the fact that they honorably carry out a responsible mission - they ensure the country's food security.
"We are provided with almost all food products and have a certain independence from the supply of some food products from outside. Moreover, we have become an export-oriented republic. Our products are on the shelves of 112 countries - we trade with almost the whole world. The Brest region provides more than a quarter of the total of the country's food exports, and I am sure that in the next few years the region's share will approach a third of the export of products," said Igor Brylo.
He presented certificates of commendation, gratitude and anniversary medals to the best workers of the industry. The highest award of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food - the badge of distinction "For Merits of the Rural Gaspadars" was awarded to Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Yury Shuleiko.
