These statistics were announced during talks between the Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Belarus Bakhtovar Safarzoda, BelTA learned from the press service of the agricultural department.

The meeting was dedicated to the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agro-industrial complex. As noted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Tajikistan is an important trading partner of Belarus in the Central Asian region. Cooperation between the countries in the agro-industrial complex is based on an agreement between the agricultural departments. Belarus exports SUGAR , powdered MILK , chilled beef , canned MEAT, cattle , eggs and meat and bone meal to Tajikistan. From Tajikistan, mainly dried fruits, cotton yarn, fabrics and fibers are imported. By the end of 2024 , the trade turnover of food and agricultural raw materials between the countries increased by 50.7% compared to 2023. The growth rate of exports from Belarus was 161.8%.

"We highly appreciate the progress in the development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Tajikistan. Based on the results of last year, a historical maximum was reached in the volume of bilateral trade: Belarus entered the top ten trading partners of Tajikistan. We will continue to take steps towards each other, which will help strengthen the ties between our peoples," assured Yuri Gorlov.

In turn, Bakhtovar Safarzoda noted that Belarus and Tajikistan are actively cooperating in the field of animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and crop production. "The successes achieved demonstrate a reliable partnership and expansion of cooperative ties. We hope that the results we have achieved today will only increase. At the diplomatic level, we will do everything possible to develop relations," the ambassador emphasized.

Yuri Gorlov invited the Minister of Agriculture of Tajikistan to visit the international exhibition "Belagro", which will be held from June 3 to 7 for the first time in the Minsk International Exhibition Center. The agricultural department has no doubt that this will be another step in strengthening partnership relations between the two countries.
