March 30, MINSK. Food inflation in the UK rose to a record 17.5% in March, REUTERS reports.

Foods such as eggs, cheese and MILK have risen the fastest , hitting mainstream consumers particularly hard.

Research organization Kantar has monitored that UK residents will find an overpayment of £837 in their annual purchase bills if they do not start to cut their spending. This amount is equivalent to $1028.

According to official figures, headline inflation in the UK rose to 10.4% in February. This was influenced by the increase in prices for food and drinks in establishments. Headline inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose to 18%, the highest since 1977.
