Law enforcement officers identified 3.1 thousand economic crimes in 2023

December 3, MINSK . In 2023, law enforcement agencies identified 3.1 thousand crimes in the economic sphere, the main emphasis was on suppressing corruption schemes. This was stated on the TV channel by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - HEAD of the Criminal Police Gennady Kazakevich, BELTA reports.

“This year we have identified 3.1 thousand crimes in the economic sphere. The question is whether this is a lot or a little.... A third of all crimes are in agriculture ,” said Gennady Kazakevich. “Every third crime has signs of corruption. We focus on suppression of corruption schemes."

According to him, corruption affects any level of society, everyone suffers from it. “It is naive to believe that corruption can be defeated. No. But it is possible and necessary to minimize the negative consequences for the economy. This is our main task. We are an operational unit, therefore, having possession of operational information, we begin to check it and, ultimately, confirm it,” added Gennady Kazakevich.

He noted that the Belarusian police have a wide range of technical means at their disposal. Work begins with an analysis of the financial and economic activities of individual enterprises or commercial firms. “When we see a clear dissonance in selling prices, in the prices of raw materials, and so on, we begin to understand: something is wrong here. Then we go along the chain. Believe me, this is very hard, painstaking and highly qualified work of operational units,” emphasized Gennady Kazakevich .

He noted that in the digital age, any actions, especially those related to the economy, the conclusion and execution of contracts, can be calculated one way or another. “There is nothing secret that would not become obvious,” Gennady Kazakevich is sure.
