The Polish dairy industry is on the brink of disaster

August 9, MINSK. The Polish dairy industry is on the brink of disaster due to high energy costs and restrictions on energy and gas supplies, writes Biznes Wprost newspaper.

The Association of Dairy Processors of the Republic appealed to the government with a request to provide support to dairy producers.

Milkmen receive letters from energy and gas suppliers warning them that they are imposing restrictive measures on the consumption of these utilities to levels that make it impossible to maintain the production, storage and even operation of on-site treatment facilities.

“Milk processing is a specific branch of the food industry, because, unlike other sectors, raw materials, that is, MILK , cannot wait several days for processing, and finished products cannot be stored without a given level of energy supply,” representatives of the dairy business said.

Milk processors note that there is no shortage of milk at dairies, and the problem lies precisely in high energy costs. They warn that just two or three days of energy problems can lead to a real disaster: problems will arise not only for dairies and farmers who buy milk from, but also for buyers who will be unable to purchase the necessary dairy products in stores and markets. .

Representatives of the Association reported that they had warned the government about the problem and even suggested solutions, but so far have not received any response from politicians.
