August 5, MINSK. With the threat of famine in the future, a food war could break out. Political scientist, analyst of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies Aleksey Avdonin spoke about this in a project on the BelTA YouTube channel.
"The problem of hunger, which the President never ceases to mention and talk about, is acquiring the character of a terrifying future. For those who form the scenario of such a future, this unambiguously allows solving the most important problem - the problem of" extra people ". A million, two million, ten million will die - and there will be more resources for the "golden billion," Alexei Avdonin said.
He stressed that such a scenario is unacceptable for Belarus. “The President is well aware that if we don’t grow grain ourselves, if we don’t provide ourselves with MEAT, MILK and other food, then no one will help us. Because all these food resources can start the same war as for oil . Who is able to use their land, apply modern technologies for growing crops and take care of agriculture, he will be independent and retain his sovereignty," the political scientist is sure.
Otherwise, Alexei Avdonin added, there is a risk of debt dependence on large corporations. “They buy up land, grain, technology and make other countries directly dependent on their supplies. Moreover, they sell everything. Remember the story “The Air Seller”. There, the model of society was based on the fact that workers would work solely for a breath of air. The same model they are now trying to extend it to us. Not a single state, not a single government will be able to withstand if a famine begins in the country," the political scientist concluded.
