June 17, MINSK . Belarusians, as a nation that suffered huge human losses during the Great Patriotic War, could not remain indifferent to the tragedy of the inhabitants of Donbass. This point of view was expressed by a public figure, Paralympic athlete and motivational coach Aleksey Talay in the project "In the subject" on the BelTA YouTube channel.
"Fighting has been going on in the Donbas for a long time - nine years. People, families with children are suffering there. And we, as citizens of a country that suffered more than others during the Great Patriotic War, can understand this pain. We had many dead . Everyone a third Belarusian gave his life, leaving many orphans. But in the most difficult conditions, the Belarusians managed to build the country from scratch," said Aleksey Talai.
According to the public figure, Belarusians, having absorbed the memory of the tragedy of the Belarusian people during the war years with their mother's MILK, could not remain indifferent to people in trouble. “As soon as the window of opportunity was ajar, we held negotiations, including with the Russian side. After all, it was about security and other important aspects that needed to be taken into account. And in 2021 I went there (to the Donbass. - Approx. BelTA), one might say, for reconnaissance. Then it became clear that the citizens of the Donetsk People's Republic were ready and would be happy to send their children to rest in our children's camps and sanatoriums," the public figure noted.
The project was created at the expense of targeted collection for the production of national content.
