August 21, MINSK. The products of Belarusian agriculture are a brand that is recognizable in the world. This was stated to a BelTA correspondent by political scientist Petr Petrovsky.
“Many people talk about the inflationary economy, criticizing the Belarusian development model at a certain stage, when, thanks to inflation, we restored our industry, including agriculture. When agricultural enterprises could pay loans thanks to inflation. Therefore, we can say that inflationary policy at that stage of history played a role just the driver for the recovery of the Belarusian economy, agriculture, and industry after the collapse of the USSR.Besides, Belarus did not have and still does not have any minerals, raw materials. Our economy has never been both agriculture and industry," Petr Petrovsky said.
When Belarus became an independent country, our agricultural enterprises faced the challenge of the fact that the agro-industrial complex was actually divided, the political scientist continued. “Those who grew agricultural products were alone, processors were second, traders were third. Where did our agriculture move? This is the consolidation of our producers, the combination of production, processing and sales in one chain so that there are no intermediaries, as well as the correct distribution profits so that manufacturers do not lose profits, because they had to invest in modernization. Let me remind you that in the 2000s we went through a full cycle of modernization of Belarusian agriculture. And the Belarusian industry made its harvester, powerful tractors, no worse than foreign counterparts. And our machine and tractor stations began to look modern, - he noted. - Now our agriculture is faced with the question of introducing artificial intelligence, drones (which, by the way, MTZ is working on. They already have a prototype drone tractor), intensification and, of course, import substitution. Yes, cereals, oilseeds are, as they say, gas andagriculture oil . But we are faced with the task of import substitution of horticultural and vegetable products.
further modernization, introduction of robotics and artificial intelligence technologies. And, of course, further integration of agricultural producers into large-scale production and increase in their capacities in order to reach the EXPORT potential not only in MILK, but also in vegetables and other products.
The political scientist added: the successful development of agriculture is the result of the wise policy of the HEAD of state. “In this regard, it must be said that, unlike the leaders of other countries, the President of Belarus himself worked in agriculture, had experience in operating a state farm. He knows all the agriculture from the inside, all the pros and cons. And unlike our neighbors - the Baltic countries, Ukraine - he always put agriculture as the main priority. And, having the appropriate competence, he, of course, on his own experience raised agriculture to a level that some Western farmers cannot reach. Belarusian agricultural products are a brand that is recognizable not only in the post-Soviet space, but already in CHINA and other countries. Therefore, I think our brand will expand. If we look, By the amount of milk produced, Belarus ranks fifth in the world. This is a demonstration of just those achievements and the recognition that we have,” Petr Petrovsky stated.
