October 24, Minsk. The period of breastfeeding is excluded from the list of contraindications for vaccination with Sputnik V against a new coronavirus infection. Corresponding changes were made to the instructions for the drug dated October 15, TASS reports.

The information was also confirmed to the agency by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Health.

"Clinical studies on the use of the drug "Gam-COVID-Vac" in women who are breastfeeding and infants are not available. It is currently unknown whether the active substances in the vaccine are able to pass into breast milk . Before deciding whether to vaccinate a nursing woman it is necessary to evaluate the risks and benefits of this vaccination," the updated instructions say.
