November 10, MINSK . Belarus and Cuba are discussing the creation of a number of joint ventures. Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz told reporters about this following negotiations with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, BELTA reports.
“We had a thorough and frank conversation on all issues of bilateral cooperation. At this meeting, going beyond the protocol and all formalities, we absolutely concretely, transparently and clearly discussed the priorities of our interaction. I believe that our expert teams are working very intensively to determine in which areas we should further stimulate cooperation. A good base has been created to make a qualitative leap forward and bring our economic interaction to another stage," said Manuel Marrero Cruz.
He noted that mechanical engineering in Belarus is of the highest level. “We are very interested in importing or assembling tractors in Cuba. Now the feasibility of such a project is being worked out so that it is profitable. For each such project we need a feasibility study, it needs to benefit both countries,” the Prime Minister of Cuba noted .
According to him, there is progress in the field of cooperation in the agricultural sector. “We import certain Belarusian products. We are mainly talking about the supply of powdered MILK - this product is in very high demand in Cuba. We are interested in taking this cooperation to a new level and not only importing finished products, but also creating joint production in Cuba so that the products output was sent not only to the Cuban market, but also to the Latin American region as a whole,” emphasized Manuel Marrero Cruz.
“We also agree that the field of biotechnology and the production of medicines can serve as an impetus for intensifying cooperation and lead to the development of interaction in other industries. Systematic work is being carried out to register medicines from Belarus in Cuba and vice versa. I would like to see In the near future, there will be production facilities in Belarus that would sell joint drugs to the EAEU market ,” added the Cuban Prime Minister.
