July 22, MINSK. The volume of trade between Belarus and Brazil increased by almost 9% in 2021, BelTA learned from the National Marketing Center

"Brazil is the largest country in South America in terms of population (214 million) and economic potential. it is among the top ten countries in the world in terms of GDP, which in 2021 amounted to $ 1.73 trillion, which is 4 more than in 2020, 6%. Due to its advantageous geographical position, the country is an ideal platform for global trade," the NCM said.

The Brazilian market is almost completely supplied with national goods (about 90%), however, due to the ever-growing demand, the country is the world's largest importer. In the total volume of world imports, Brazil ranks 26th with a total volume of deliveries in 2021 of $ 219.4 billion, which is 38.2% higher than in 2020 and 23.7% in 2019.

Brazil's main import positions are engineering products and spare parts for them, fertilizers (potassium chloride), electronics, medicines, oil and oil products, natural gas. The country also imports wood pulp, non-woven fabrics made from chemical filaments, optical instruments and other products. Among the food products in the republic, MILK and condensed cream with a fat content of more than 1.5%, fresh or chilled garlic, wheat FLOUR are in demand.

“In general, last year Brazil imported more than 4.6 thousand commodity items, while the range of Belarusian exports to Brazil was represented by 75 commodity items (in 2020 - 68 commodity items). In 2021, the volume of trade between Belarus and Brazil amounted to $782 .9 million, which is 8.9% higher than in 2020," the NCM said.

The balance between the countries was positive for Belarus in the amount of $387.3 million. The positive dynamics of exports was ensured by increasing the supply of potash fertilizers, synthetic monofilaments, linen fabrics, unroasted malt, measuring instruments, vulcanized rubber products (plates, sheets, strips or tapes) , profiles made of iron or non-alloy steel, as well as the EXPORT of new commodity items, including wood pulp, casing and tubing pipes for oil or gas wells, hand pneumatic tools, microscopes.

A number of Belarusian goods are in steady demand on the Brazilian market: these are insecticides and herbicides, a group of products of the petrochemical complex, and metal products.

Cord materials (threads and fabrics) for the production of car tires, electric vehicles and beer malt have a significant growth potential in the context of the supply of Belarusian products to the Brazilian market.

Due to the constantly growing demand for agricultural and other machinery, fertilizers, tires and other goods produced by Belarusian enterprises, some joint assembly plants (of Belarusian machinery) have already been established in Brazil, and new ones are also planned.

When entering the Brazilian market, Belarusian enterprises need to take into account the presence of competition from the main trading partners of the country ( CHINA , the usa , Latin American countries, the EU, Japan, the United Arab Emirates) and apply more flexible options for cooperation, the center stressed.
