Ministry of Agriculture and Food: harvested volumes of feed for livestock this year exceed last year’s

November 13, MINSK . Procured volumes of feed for livestock this year exceed last year's levels. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun spoke about this at a press conference dedicated to the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers, BELTA correspondent reports.

He added that 1.1 million tons of potatoes were harvested this year. The harvesting of vegetables, in particular late varieties of cabbage , is also coming to an end . “Vegetable crops and potatoes allow us to create stabilization funds. This work will be completed by December 1. Almost all regions of our country and Minsk have already formed the volume of stabilization funds, which this year amount to almost 122 thousand tons of products,” the deputy minister noted. He recalled that potatoes, beets , carrots , cabbage, onions and apples are included in the stabilization funds.

“The yield of SUGAR beets this year is also higher than last year. At the moment, we plan to produce at least 5 million tons of sweet root crops. These volumes will provide our processing organizations with raw materials, and the population with sugar,” emphasized Vladimir Grakun.
