June 23, MINSK. Belarus will be able to restrain inflationary processes by exporting food products at favorable prices for us. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vadim Shagoiko said this during a meeting of the BelTA project on the topic "The global economic crisis and food shortages", BelTA has learned.

“Given the fact that the global food crisis is brewing, Belarusian producers have the opportunity to increase efficiency by selling products for EXPORT at prices that are favorable to us. Thanks to this, we can level out inflation within the country, receive higher incomes in foreign markets, and also raise the overall the level of wages at factories and fulfill the social burden that falls on enterprises," the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food noted.

As he said, this year it is planned to harvest 9 million tons of grain: “We use fertilizers, improve the technologies of the agro-industrial complex and hope for these figures. Of course, the weather also plays an important role and there are always certain risks. However, we have never had terrible disasters like a plague of locusts or heavy hail, which would have left us with no harvest."

Vadim Shagoiko also noted that thanks to investments in the agro-industrial sector, Belarus has achieved high rates in the production of dairy and MEAT products. According to him, there is enough feed for livestock, so there is no threat to the domestic market, there is also a large export potential.

"We produce 2.5 times more MILK than the domestic market requires, and 1.3 times more meat. We close the main food items above 100%, and if some unforeseen situation happens, we have enough food stocks," - concluded the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food.
