December 8, MINSK . To increase the economic efficiency of livestock farming in Belarus, it is necessary to increase animal productivity. This was stated at the II International Forum “Agrarian Belarus. Reproduction” by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Sergei Fedchenko, BELTA correspondent reports.

“In order to produce better and of higher quality, as well as supply significant volumes of food to world markets, it is important to adhere to technology. To do this, one should study the experience of leading enterprises and implement it at home. A course towards new technologies and the most effective solutions is the main road for the development of the domestic agro-industrial complex,” - says Sergei Fedchenko.

According to him, in 1970-1990, livestock farming in agricultural organizations developed due to an increase in the number of livestock. At the same time, development is currently being carried out through intensive methods, strengthening the feed base, modernization, reconstruction and construction of new complexes, and the introduction of advanced technologies for the production of livestock products.

“One of the factors for increasing the economic efficiency of livestock farming is an increase in animal productivity, which is impossible without reproduction and is achieved through the introduction of targeted selection and breeding work. Belarusian scientists should concentrate on this area,” emphasized the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.

The format of the forum "Agricultural Belarus. Reproduction" provides for work in specialized sections: cattle , pig farming and poultry farming.

The forum will focus on the topics of selection, conservation and improvement of the gene pool, as well as modern reproduction technologies, optimal housing and feeding conditions, and rearing of young animals. In addition, experts will talk about the prevention and treatment of diseases, innovative solutions for beef cattle breeding, increasing productivity and profitability, prospects for the development of the industry and import substitution.
