This was stated by Belstat Chairperson Inna Medvedeva during a meeting with representatives of agricultural organizations in the Gorki District, BelTA learned from the Belstat press service.
Ahead of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Medvedeva explained that pre-war agricultural output was only achieved in 1956, and by 1960, it had increased by 25% compared to 1940 levels.
"In the post-war years, the gross grain harvest was actively restored: by 1970, it amounted to 3,806,000 tons, while in 1943 it was only 87,000 tons. The cattle population in 1970 reached 5,383,000 HEAD, while in 1943 it numbered only 120,000 head. Today, Belarus is completely self-sufficient in agricultural products. The level of self-sufficiency in MILK is 283%, MEAT - 135%, eggs - 123%, potatoes - 111%, vegetables and melons - 103%. Agricultural products and food account for a fifth of total exports. We need to preserve what we have in our Belarus and increase it for the sake of future generations," Inna Medvedeva cited the figures.
At the meeting, participants discussed the current state of primary accounting at specific agricultural enterprises in the district, the reliability of the primary statistical data provided, and the inadmissibility of falsifications. The head of Belstat drew attention to compliance with regulatory requirements for weighing individual livestock groups and the correct transfer of animals between groups.
