June 7, MINSK. The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade is expanding state regulation of prices for socially significant goods. This is provided for by the department’s resolution of June 1, 2021 No. 40 “On the regulation of prices for socially significant goods,” BelTA informs.

"Against the backdrop of the continued rise in world food prices, there is an acceleration of the annual increase in consumer prices in Belarus. According to the FAO, the increase in world food prices in general in May 2021 accelerated in annual terms to 37.5% (28.7% in April) , including the increase in prices for MEAT amounted to 8.3%, MILK - 25.9%, grain crops - 34.5%, vegetable oil - 120.9%. in terms rose to 24.4%, tea - to 75.5%, palm oil - doubled.

In this regard, MART adopted a resolution dated June 1, 2021 No. 40 "On the regulation of prices for socially significant goods." The document provides for the convergence of the lists of goods for which price regulation is carried out in accordance with Government Decree No. 100 of February 23, 2021 "On temporary measures to stabilize prices for socially significant essential goods." The Decree introduces price regulation for a number of food products: pearl barley, meat food by-products, semi-smoked, boiled-smoked sausage, canned stewed beef, canned stewed pork, live fish, frozen fish (fillet and cut), margarine, garlic, sweet pepper, coffee instant, black tea, table SALT.

The document also provides for a change in approaches to price regulation in terms of establishing the maximum size of the importer's markup, wholesale markup, trade markup (including the wholesale markup) not exceeding 25% for cheese, wheat FLOUR, dry pasta, canned fish, rice, semolina, millet groats, oat flakes, potatoes and fresh vegetables (beets, carrots, white cabbage, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes), apples.

In addition, the resolution clarifies approaches to regulating prices for baby food.

The Decree will enter into force after its official publication.
