Belarusian President ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO is calling for more active diversification of Belarusian food
exports . He made these statements during a personnel appointment, BelTA reports.
He noted that, for example, there are currently difficulties selling butter abroad, with a surplus of the commodity. "Everything is selling out except butter. But
butter is made from
MILK. Well, let's do what they do in Volkovysk (at the Bellakt plant – BelTA note) and process
it into powdered
milk . It's a good price. We'll take it to Africa. We'll make baby
food ," the
HEAD of state proposed as one option.
"We can continue to
EXPORT canned goods. We must move forward in this regard and under no circumstances stop. This is crucial. We can't do anything without the economy," the Belarusian leader emphasized. "I warned you a year ago that we would have problems in our main market—Russia. They're already emerging. Fortunately,
CHINA is here, consuming more and more of our food products, and so on. But the Chinese won't buy any of our manufactured goods. Because they have all their own. And the Russian market is currently facing fierce competition. Things aren't easy. So we need to work hard everywhere."
