The State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection will return to the structure of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, since one of the main tasks of the relevant department is food safety.
This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy Roman Leshchenko during the Grain Ukraine conference.
“The main goal that we set has been achieved: we have eliminated the dualism of agricultural policies. There will be only one ministry in the country, which forms the agrarian policy. And this institution was created not for the individual, but for the development of the agricultural sector,” said Roman Leshchenko.
He added that investments, localization of production, development and opening of new export markets will be an important direction in policy.
Roman Leshchenko also noted that the strategy of the agricultural sector until 2030, which has already been approved by the government, is flexible, and its implementation requires dialogue.
“In 10 years, we see a country with the right of citizens to own and dispose of land, restored irrigation and drainage, developed infrastructure, developed organic production, improved food safety standards. And also with the elimination of the existing shortcomings of the system of taxation of the agricultural sector, the lengthening of the value chain, with the existing advantages for the export of high value-added products. And, of course, the ministry that deals with politics and the development of the agricultural sector, and not the management of state enterprises and the creation of a bureaucracy,” said Roman Leshchenko.
