Viktor Pivko, HEAD of the Department for Control over the Work of Agro-Industrial and Environmental Complexes of the State Control Committee of the Grodno Region, told journalists before the specialized board about the results of control over the effectiveness of measures taken to improve the work on the reproduction of the cattle herd , the provision of breeding stock for all built and under construction MTCs, as well as the safety of livestock, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"Today, both in the region and in the country, active construction of dairy complexes is underway. According to the instructions of the head of state, they must be staffed with livestock with a productivity of at least 7 thousand kg of MILK. At the same time, staffing must be within a year after the commissioning of the complexes. In this regard, work on the reproduction of the herd is reaching a new level in order to obtain the required amount of high-quality livestock. Therefore, we focus on the problems that exist in reproduction," Viktor Pivko noted.
The head of the department indicated what the emphasis is on in today's work with reproduction. "The main focus is on what needs to be improved: the number of young calves per hundred cows, the average daily gain of this young stock, timely transfer of dry cows, timely vaccination , the efficiency of insemination of animals," said Viktor Pivko.
Among the ways to solve problematic issues, they named compliance with the feeding ration of the breeding stock, primarily during the dry period, strict adherence to the developed schemes for processing dry animals, obtaining the appropriate average daily gain of replacement heifers.
As noted by the State Control Committee of the Grodno Region, in January-October 2024 , gross milk production in the region increased by 83 thousand tons, which amounted to 106.5% compared to the same period in 2023. In the region, mainly built and reconstructed dairy complexes are staffed, with the exception of several private farms.
