February 22, MINSK . Qatar is interested in Belarusian it technologies. This was stated by Chargé d'Affaires of Belarus in Qatar, Aleksei Malafei, to journalists during Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko's visit to the country, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"We have several areas we are focusing on. These include political cooperation and expanding political contacts, which we have very good. Regarding economic cooperation, there are also several interesting and promising areas, including food supplies. Belarusian dairy products, soft and hard cheeses , glazed curd bars,sour cream ,"Cottage cheese and fish products are already available in Qatar's main retail chains," said Alexey Malafey. Climate conditions prevent Qatar from developing agriculture

sufficiently to ensure food security, he noted. "Therefore , Belarus could be a reliable partner here. For example, Belarusian MILK powder is used to produce Qatari ice cream," the chargé d'affaires added. High technology is another promising area. "Qatar is actively developing, building new cities, and hosting various world-class events. They understand that limiting themselves to energy production alone is not enough to develop the economy. Qatar is working to develop non-oil and non-gas sectors of the economy. One of these is, of course, high technology and IT," emphasized Alexey Malafey. In November 2024 , a delegation from the Belarusian Hi-Tech Park visited Qatar. "We organized a meeting with the largest Qatari banks, holdings, corporations, investment funds, and the Qatar Science and Technology Park. "We participated in a conference on artificial intelligence. There was great interest in the products of Belarusian IT companies. Specific agreements were reached, and we are now working to implement them," the Chargé d'Affaires emphasized. Developing cooperation in healthcare and science also holds promise. "Our achievements in medicine, including in the treatment of cancer and heart disease, could be of interest and useful to Qatar. We will discuss this. We hope for some success," emphasized Alexei Malafei. Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko arrived in Qatar today on an official visit. A number of meetings with the country's leadership are planned.
