July 19, Minsk. Grodno farmers expect to get a record yield of winter barley this year. Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Vladimir Karanik spoke about this in the program "Conversation with the President" on the TV channel, BelTA informs.

“Today, the harvesting of winter barley has almost been completed in the region - 86% of the sown area has already been harvested,” Vladimir Karanik said. “So far, the yield does not reach 60 centners per hectare, but agricultural workers promise that the final figure will be more than 60 centners per hectare. This harvest in recent years can be attributed to the record. The role was played by the weather and the observance of technology."

The leader stressed that agriculture is not only the food security of the country. This issue, thanks to the support of the state and the President personally, was resolved quite a long time ago. “This is a significant export potential,” said Vladimir Karanik. “For example, 30% of the dairy products of the Grodno region are consumed domestically, 70% are exported. 50% of meat processing is also exported. technology allows you to get better profits in foreign markets, which means that you can continue to fully fulfill your social obligations and build new social facilities, and increase salaries for state employees."

The Chairman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee stressed that some believe that at the present stage money is only being invested in agriculture, but this is not so. As in other countries, at the first stage, the state really provides great support, for example, with cheap credit resources. But in general, this is a profitable branch of the state that can earn money. "According to last year's statistics, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in terms of export earnings exceeded the indicators of the Ministry of Industry, that is, we sold more agricultural products for export than industrial products," he concluded.
