Employees of the Chernavchitsy OJSC in the Brest region admit that they work well because the management of the farm treats them with respect, and also pays them well and provides them with housing. The company specializes in the production of milk and meat, the cultivation of grain and industrial crops, and the cultivation of fruits. We visited OJSC "Chernavchitsy" and met its workers.
Adhering to all technologiesThe farm is small but extensive. Its lands extend from the borders of the Zhabinkovsky district to the Kamenets district. Director of OJSC Chernavchitsy Nikolai Burda noted that his company operates financially stable, although the land here is poor and sandy. By strictly adhering to all technologies, farmers receive decent results in crop production. This year the weather helped too. Productivity has increased. For example, wheat amounted to almost 62 c/ha, triticale - 52 c/ha, winter rye - 50 c/ha, rapeseed - 39 c/ha, peas - 36 c/ha. In total, 10 thousand tons of grain and leguminous crops were harvested here.
– There was moisture – that’s the result. Everything we do is subject to minimal tillage. We use disc harrows to reduce wind erosion. We try to start sowing early, because droughts usually occur in the spring. Of the spring grains, we have 250 hectares of peas, 50 hectares of millet, 35 hectares of buckwheat and 20 hectares of oats, the remaining 1.6 thousand hectares are winter crops . We give them priority because the soil is better supplied with moisture and by spring the root system has already been formed. Winter crops tolerate drought better,” explained the director of the OJSC.
Traditionally, sugar beets are also cultivated on the farm. This year, unfortunately, she did not have enough moisture due to the capricious weather. About 13 thousand tons of sweet root crops were collected. Productivity was approximately 480 c/ha, average sugar content was 16.5%.
Tractor driver Maxim Mishkovich is busy transporting beets to the Zhabinkovsky sugar factory these days. He has been working in agriculture for 12 years; before that he worked as a physical education teacher at a school in Brest.
– I come from the Pinsk region. During my studies, I worked part-time in the summer working on a grain harvester. My classmate first started working at Chernavchitsy, then he offered me a job,” Maxim said. – I grew up in the village. My father was an engineer, my entire childhood was spent next to agricultural machinery. It turned out that he himself began to work on it.
A great responsibility lies on the shoulders of machine operators; they spend time in the field from morning to evening. Often you have to stay late. Employees treat this with understanding, knowing that they will receive a decent salary for their work.
Solid fleet of equipmentNow farmers are preparing the soil for winter and the next sowing season. Unclaimed equipment is put into storage. The head of the central workshops, Roman Borushko, is responsible for ensuring that all cars, tractors and units are on the move.
– I carried out a visual inspection in the morning - problems will almost always be immediately visible. Machine operators can tell you what they are not satisfied with in the operation of the equipment. Together with the chief engineer we make a decision and carry out repairs. It takes a lot of time, sometimes you have to come home around midnight. But I like this work , although it can be hard,” the young man admitted.
“Chernavchitsy” has a solid fleet of equipment: 42 tractors, eight grain harvesters and three forage harvesters, seven MAZ vehicles with a carrying capacity of 10 tons and above, more than 50 units of trailed equipment.
– In parallel with the work in the field, equipment is being put into storage, troubleshooting is being carried out, spare parts are being purchased for the next season, and the mechanical yards are being put in order. In our team we have both young people and experienced specialists who know their job and help young people. Workers are provided with housing. The economy is purchasing apartments to attract young people and secure their place in the area. In general, working conditions are very good,” said Andrey Kolb, chief engineer of the OJSC.
Chernavchitsa applesIn addition, the farm has an apple orchard . Its territory occupies 70 fruit-bearing hectares. Old trees are gradually uprooted, and 4-5 hectares of young trees are planted in their place every year. Apples have been grown here for almost 20 years. All this time, Maria Oshurkevich has been working continuously as an agronomist-gardener.“We plant new ones using new technology, more compactly, which gives a larger harvest at lower costs. I come to the garden, look at it and relax my soul. In the spring, when the trees are in bloom, it is simply incomparable. When everything is covered in apples, it’s also very beautiful. The garden requires a lot of attention and does not allow you to relax either in summer or in winter,” the specialist noted.
The company has its own storage facility for 2.5 thousand tons. Fragrant apples are stored in 14 chambers, each of which is dedicated to a separate variety. Most of the fruits are sold in Belarus, supplied to large stores, schools and kindergartens, for the production of baby food. Chernavchitsky apples are also known to buyers in Russia.
Every year there is constructionAt Chernavchitsy, close attention is paid to the preparation of feed. The base is corn. It is sown annually on more than 1 thousand hectares.
– Usually we always have a year and a half supply of feed. We hand over the grain to government orders, and process the rest in our workshop, preparing compound feed for the needs of livestock farming,” said the director of the enterprise.
In total, the OJSC operates three dairy farms. The total livestock is about 5 thousand, of which more than 1.7 thousand are milking herds. The farm sells around 40 tons of milk per day, more than 80% of which is of the extra variety.
Lyubov Kinakh works as a milking machine operator at the Omelinno MTF, and she is also the mother of three children.
– Sometimes you have to wake up at five o’clock in the morning, sometimes at half past five, to prepare breakfast for the children. I arrive at work at a quarter to seven. Our team is good and well-coordinated. The management treats us with respect, they pay us well, so we work with pleasure,” the villager emphasized.
The farm is constantly trying to modernize livestock complexes .
– Every year we have construction projects, we do them at our own expense. Now, on the oldest farm in the village of Pokry, we are building a small barn for about 140 highly productive animals. Work began in the spring. I think we will complete everything by the end of November,” added Nikolai Burda.
Nikolai Burda congratulated his colleagues on the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers.
– We have a good team, specialists in their places. We try to raise everyone's salary twice a year. People are rooting for the cause, we are lucky to have them. Most importantly, I wish you health, success, good family relationships. When everything is good in a person’s family, things get argued every now and then. Everything else will follow.
The staff of OJSC "Chernavchitsy" consists of 247 people.
