July 18, MINSK . During an official visit to Cuba, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik was received on July 18 by Vice President Salvador Antonio Valdez Mesa, acting HEAD of state during his absence from the country. This was reported to BelTA by the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
In the course of thorough negotiations, the agreements reached by the Belarusian delegation during the current visit were consolidated. Among them are plans for a comprehensive activation of bilateral trade and economic relations, promising projects in the field of industrial cooperation, including organizing the assembly of Belarusian equipment in Cuba, cooperation in the biotechnological and scientific and technical spheres, and tourism interaction.
The important issue for the Cuban side was the supply of Belarusian powdered MILK, which is used for the nutritional needs of children under 6 years old. At the moment, due to sanctions, Cuba is experiencing a deficit in it. The Belarusian side reaffirmed its responsible attitude to food security issues and expressed its readiness to support Cuban partners with the supply of this socially important product.
The parties stated the coincidence of points of view on the ongoing global processes, reaffirmed their readiness to continue to support each other in international organizations, and emphasized the high level of mutual understanding.
Interaction within the EAEU was discussed separately , taking into account the observer status that Cuba has. The Cuban partners reaffirmed their readiness to promote the interests of the Belarusian side in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
