
March 29, St. Petersburg. Belarus and St. Petersburg use new opportunities to develop cooperation. This was stated to journalists by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.
"The meeting of the Business Cooperation Council was constructive. The task at this stage is not only to overcome the challenges and difficulties, but also to take advantage of the existing opportunities. We talked a lot about import substitution, increasing supplies. St. Petersburg is interested in Belarusian engineering and food products, Belarus is interested in St. Petersburg enterprises are working on deliveries of Belarusian goods through the port of Bronka," said Roman Golovchenko.
He also outlined plans to increase trade. A roadmap for trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation was signed between the government of Belarus and the leadership of St. Petersburg for 2022-2026.In 2021, the trade turnover between Belarus and St. Petersburg amounted to $1.743 billion and increased by 14.5% compared to 2020, exports - $982.1 million (an increase of 13.6%). The balance is positive - $220.5 million. In 2021, supplies of hot-rolled non-alloy steel bars, butter, frozen beef, plastic containers, condensed and dried MILK and cream, potatoes, chipboard and fiberboard, parts and accessories for cars and tractors increased.
Roman GolovchenkoIn January 2022, trade with St. Petersburg amounted to $122.5 million and increased by 15.9% compared to January 2021, exports - $68.8 million (an increase of 1.2%). Deliveries of cheese and cottage cheese, butter, frozen fish, complex synthetic threads, potatoes, packaging materials, poultry MEAT, and whole milk increased.
