February 13,
MINSK . French dairy farmers demonstrated in central Paris on the esplanade in front of Les Invalides, demanding greater government control over fair remuneration and wholesale prices for workers in the industry.
TASS reports this .
According to a TASS correspondent, a group of several dozen farmers on tractors blocked the street with haystacks. Police officers were on duty along the perimeter of the demonstration and refused to allow farmers to approach the National Assembly. After some time, a group of deputies from the National Assembly arrived to the farmers, to whom the organizers of the action voiced their proposals.
Participants in the action, in a conversation with a TASS correspondent, said that due to low purchasing prices at large enterprises, they accumulate debts and have difficulty supporting their farms. One of the participants reported that for a liter pack or bottle of
MILK, if
it is sold in a supermarket at a price of 1 euro,
the farmer will receive about 30 cents. Farmers consider a fair price of 55 cents.
The demonstrators also planned to
HEAD to the Eiffel Tower to distribute
milk there , but by mid-day the police still maintained a cordon around their demonstration on the esplanade near the Invalides House and the farmers decided not to change the location of the demonstration.
On the morning of February 13, the head of the FNSEA farmers' union, Arnaud Rousseau, said that French farmers were ready to resume strikes if the country's
authorities did not take additional measures to support them.
