Deputy: for more than 30 years, the basis of our country's policy has been sovereignty and social justice

July 2, MINSK . For more than three decades , Belarus has been a state whose policy is based on sovereignty and social justice. This opinion was expressed to a BelTA correspondent by a member of the Standing Committee on Legislation of the House of Representatives Irina Lukanskaya on the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

A new branch of mechanical engineering is actively developing in Belarus - electric transport, as well as the fuel and energy complex. 40 years ago, we could not even dream of such a thing," the deputy stressed.

She noted that farmers produce almost twice as much grain, 1.8 times as much MILK, and 1.5 times as much MEAT as in the Soviet Union. In the global food security ranking, Belarus is characterized as a country with favorable food security conditions. "We are firmly among the leaders in the EXPORT of food products and occupy the top lines in the world ranking of exporters: the third position in the supply of butter, condensed milk, whey, the fourth in the export of cheese. Natural Belarusian products are loved and known all over the world, despite sanctions and trade wars," added Irina Lukanskaya.

The deputy expressed the opinion that Belarus has created exceptional conditions for social support for families raising children. "This support is unparalleled: 11 types of benefits, maternity capital, leave to care for a child up to 3 years old - this is not found anywhere in the world. Belarus occupies the 25th position in the ranking of the most comfortable countries for motherhood and is included in the top 50 countries in the world in terms of management of pregnancy and childbirth, and also occupies one of the leading places in terms of people's access to medical services. We really have something to be proud of," said Irina Lukanskaya.

She also drew attention to the fact that all the years of existence in the status of an independent state, Belarus has been building relations with the outside world, protecting its national interests and sovereignty, including with RUSSIA. Our countries jointly and effectively resist the aggressive sanctions policy and attempts to isolate the West, form a common policy in the military, economic, cultural, scientific and educational spheres. "Strategic partnership, the development of allied relations with the Russian Federation are due to the geographical and cultural-historical proximity of our countries and peoples, the complementarity of economies, while our union is built on the principles of unconditional preservation of state sovereignty and fulfillment by the parties of their obligations. Russiahas traditionally been the main trading partner of Belarus and the largest export market for our products. At the end of 2022, our trade turnover increased by almost 15%. Russia accounts for more than half of our foreign trade. The real result from the Union of Belarus and Russia is the growth of competitiveness, the utilization of production capacities, the creation of new jobs, and the improvement of the welfare of the two countries. As our President ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO said about relations with Russia , we must stick to each other, be as close as possible - there is no other alternative to preserve the sovereignty and independence of our states," Irina Lukanskaya summed up.
