7 July, Brest. Brest Region has increased food
exports over the past five years , BelTA learned from the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the Brest Regional Executive Committee.
By increasing production volumes, Brest Region not only supplies the domestic market with food, but also increases exports. For example, over the past five years, beef exports have increased by 1.5 times, sausages and similar
MEAT products - by 2.6 times. Producers in the southwestern region exported almost three times more
MILK and cream (condensed), 1.8 times more butter, 1.7 times more cheese and cottage cheese, and 3.1 times more rapeseed oil.
"The geography of food exports has been expanded to 68 countries. In the context of fluctuations in supply and demand on foreign markets, the region's agro-industrial complex organizations have developed 23 new markets for the sale of manufactured products. Among them are Bahrain, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Zambia, Iraq, Iran, Cyprus, Cuba, Kuwait, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Mongolia, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan,
Saudi Arabia , Senegal, Slovenia,
Turkey , Chile, and Equatorial Guinea," the Committee on Agriculture and Food said.
Peasant (farming) households also make their contribution. There are 844 of them in the Brest Region, 765 of which are engaged in agricultural activities. They mainly ship vegetables for
EXPORT (almost 80%). They export apples, apricots, cherries, plums, plants and flowers, hop cones grown in Brest region. "In
2024 , the geography of export deliveries of food produced by peasant (farming) households included ten countries," the regional agricultural department noted.
